Grease Extraction Systems Cleaned to BESA TR19 Standards

Since 2020 the TR19 standards for ductwork cleaning were separated into the specialised specifics being Grease for fire risk management and Air for ventilation hygiene.

At SClark Cleaning Services we specialise in the TR19 Grease with all staff performing the ductwork, plenum and fan cleaning being competently trained as operators through BESA academy approved training centres, there will also always be at least 1 technician on site at all times from coming to test and quote and to sign off once cleaning has been completed to ensure that pre and post clean verification is up to BESA TR19 grease standards.

How the process is undertaken

Quoting & System inspection report

We recommend you allowing us to undertake this process first thing when you open up, so we can ensure that we can complete the inspection form whilst prep or service is underway and we are not keeping anyone behind out of hours for longer than is needed, as we require the signature of the responsible person within the business on the inspection form so we know you have seen and read through it.

Each system is different, so when it comes to quoting we will come out and complete a pre clean inspection, of which you will receive a copy of upon completion along with your quote. The system will be required to be locked off whilst we complete it to ensure the safety of our technician undertaking it, meaning it will have to be done outside of prep and service hours..

The pre clean inspection consists of your details of address, contact info, when the inspection was undertaken and some general information of appliances in your kitchen and the average covers done in a day, when the system was last cleaned and a description of your system. We then will check for access throughout the system and whether or not we will recommend an improvement to the ability of access to your system so it can be thoroughly cleaned to mitigate the fire risks throughout.

From there we will undertake a wet film thickness and visual tests throughout the system being in the canopy plenum, ductwork and the fan which will define our recommendations about when the cleaning will need to be undertaken.

After we have completed this process we complete your assessment which will explain to you the believed fire risk, any defects that will be recommended to be put correct followed by a photographic record and a schematic drawing of your system outlining our recommendations and their placements in your system.

All we are providing are recommendations so once the inspection is completed we will have a 10/20 minute chat about the cleaning and what further action you would like to be undertaken so we can provide a quote according to your specification to complete the clean.

During the clean

In the same way as when we undertake the inspection the system will need to be locked off for our technician and operatives safety but the best time for it to be completed is at the end of service provide us with the best ability to keep your price competitive as the grease will still be loose from the heat generated within the system throughout service we would just wait a couple hours for the temperature to cool so that we don’t burn ourselves on the metal pipework.

We will follow risk and method statements for the process undertaken on each clean which will set out how each clean is undertaken, of which will be provided to you between 24/48 hours before we arrive to commence the cleaning. All waste we accumulate during such process will be taken away with us once the clean is completed, ensuring your bins are not overfilled or disturbing your every day business practices after we complete your systems clean.

If we come across any irregularity’s during the clean our technicians and operatives will stop work whilst we make contact with you about what you want us to do in the process, be it any extra work which was not quoted for originally as this is another way we can keep the price as competitive as possible meaning we would have little to no wiggle room on extras, all small issues estimated to take no longer than 2 hours would be soaked up and not mentioned.

Post clean verification report & certificate

The PCVR (Post Clean Verification Report) will be submitted to you within 30 days of the cleanings completion.

Just as the pre clean inspection the PCVR will begin with a full description of your extraction system in which we will leave a clear statement of if the entire system has been cleaned, if not there will be a clear indication to what was not cleaned and why it was not cleaned with our recommendations on solutions to clean the system.

There will be our calculations for our recommendations as to the frequency of the cleaning to keep the levels of grease below 200 microns and will include our pre and post clean micron readings, in the stipulated test locations, all micron readings will be made into an average so we can show that the system is below the 50 micron acceptable limit after cleaning. Grease thickness tests will match the same locations for both the pre and post clean reports.

If there are any specific sections of which you don’t want cleaning the PCVR will include pre agreed statements explaining why they won’t be getting cleaned.

There will be before and after photographs of the system included in the PCVR of which will be itemised to your schematic diagram which also shows your entire system and where each component is and the changes of direction in the system. All of our recommendations and areas of which could and could not be cleaned will also be itemised and in place with any additional access panels will be included.

Once completed your certificate will be issued but you will not receive it until payment in full has been made.
